CME Exchange Expands Crypto Derivatives with XRP and Solana Options Launch

CME exchange News - CME Group, a premier derivatives marketplace, will initiate options trading for XRP and Solana futures starting October 13. The new offerings will feature both standard and micro-sized contracts, with expiration schedules including daily, monthly, and quarterly terms. This expansion broadens investor access to cryptocurrency derivatives beyond the established Bitcoin and Ethereum products. Since their introduction earlier this year, XRP and Solana futures have demonstrated substantial market adoption. Over 540,000 Solana contracts (representing $22.3 billion in notional value) and 370,000 XRP contracts ($16.2 billion notional) have traded on CME's platform. Both instruments achieved record trading volumes and open interest levels during August. The options launch represents another significant milestone in institutional cryptocurrency adoption. CME's XRP and Solana derivatives suite now ranks among its fastest-growing futures products, underscoring robust market demand for alternative cryptocurrency exposure.
